OggScan
Description
This program is intended to search and extract Ogg
media streams (http://www.xiph.org/ogg/)
from other files (such as game resources). After extraction you can handle this
streams as a regular *.ogg files. You can play
them in audio player, burn them to audio CD, etc.
Example
For example, here's how to extract .ogg files from
Hitman: Contracts :
- Run oggscan.exe
- Click in menu, browse to
the game directory and choose streams.wav
- Wait until scanning is finished.
- Optional: select streams you want to extract from table (click
in an appropriate checkbox)
- Click to export
selected streams only, otherwise
click to
export all streams.
- Choose directory you want to extract files to (filename doesn't matter)
and wait until exporting is finished
Notes
- Output files is saved to stream NNN.ogg,
where NNN is stream number.
- The program was written and debugged under
Windows 2000 and also tested
under Windows ME. I know no reason why this
program wouldn't run under Windows 98 or
Windows XP.
- Adding support for other formats such as MP3 or WAV isn't planned,
because there are many other good tools exists to do the job.
- The program can correctly extract Ogg-streams only if their structure is
not broken. In other words, if extracted Ogg-streams are not played correctly,
their structure is broken.
- OggScan can extract any streams in
Ogg format,
(Speex
streams, for example, is also using Ogg as a container
format).
- Development of the program is finished for now, but the author will
gladly receive any non-obscene suggestions for improvement of the program.
